The Obama administration was far worse reacting to BP than the Bush administration was for Katrina. BP had, for a long time, safety issues that kept getting overlooked by inspectors including the current Obama administration. Can't blame just BP, Obama, Bush or Clinton. It was a collective effort. Current laws and safety efforts were ignored by BP and our own government. We don't need more, just adhere to them!

What made me sick about the whole affair was the amount of time WASTED on "who was at fault", and "BP must take responsibility". The oceans and seas belong to EVERYONE and when this blowout happened, EVERY country with oil, rigs, OPEC nations, every country should have stepped up and did everything they could to cap the well. A lot of time was wasted, a lot of animal life killed, a lot of people out of business and ill from the effects while our idiots in power pointed fingers. There was plenty of time for that AFTER the damn blowout was fixed!
I think it was purposeful so FEMA, the Bilderberg group, the NWO, illuminati, etc..could hurt the economy so people would have to leave the areas affected and therefore make there job of gathering us up for the kill soon to come.
It's all about the end times people. Open your eyes and get right with God.

They ought to be permitted to drill if anyone else is permitted to drill. I think the technology to drill deep wells is mature, ensuring the drilling team complies with all of the safety rules and isn't just driven by profit is the base problem.

NO ONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DRILL IN DEPTHS OR WATER IF GOD FOR BIDE SOMETHING GOES WRONG AND IT DID (YOU DUMB MORONS) THAT YOU CAN NOT SAFELY SEND A HUMAN DIVE TEAM TO THEN YOU SHOULD NOT BE PUTTING THE WHOLE WORLD YES THE WHOLE WORLD IN JEOPARDY JUST BECAUSE OF THE NEED AND DEMAND. THAT IS WHERE WE (NOT ALL), THINK WE NEED THIS SO BAD TO LIVE. HUM IT IS NICE BUT WHEN WE HAVE ABUSED THIS LUXURY FOR SO LONG, IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THERE IS SO MANY OTHER WAYS TO GET AROUND. SO I GUESS IT IS NOT JUST BP WHOM SHOULD BE TO BLAME IT SHOULD BE EACH AND EVERYONE ONE OF US IN SOME WAY SHAPE OR FOR.

I say let them do what they want as long as it keeps prices down. Overall what killed me about this whole situation was that a few years back gas prices went up to almost $5 a gallon. "Because we are running out of oil" according to the wonderful people who run this country. (yeah right) This happens with BP and gas prices moved but not much. Hmmmm but yet we are running out of oil. But there ware gallons gushing into the ocean and it took so long to plug up. Odd don't you think?

Yeah, let's ban offshore oil drilling, bytebug. Just make that check out to China, please, because they will happily drill in "our" international waters if we don't.

I think that they should forget drilling here until they figure out a safer way to do it above water after many many inspections have been compoleted and stricter regulations have been placed upon all gas companies. This caused far too much devistation that all could have and should have been avoided!!!!

I don't have a problem with them drilling for oil. After all, we need more oil that is not Saudi controlled. However, I think that their operation should be monitored by government officials, one from the Feds and one from Louisiana, to make sure they are following the strictest of safety protocols. Have them to do this for about six months to a year as a probationary lease to drill. Once the period is over, if the government officials do not find enough violations to warrant a shutdown, then they should be allowed free access once again. They also must supply contingency plans for various scenarios that may happen in case of another spill. This I think will ensure public safety and make BP accountable for all mishaps. Further, severe fines should be levied upon the company if there are any more spills for the above mentioned period.

For whatever this is worth, I think BP should be allowed to drill in the same area, but BP should share the proceeds with the residents & businesses who were so adversely affected by the oil spill. Say a 50/50 split would seem fair to me.

I don't know how other drillers are treated ,but, it seems very "Apparent" that things need to be monitored a little bit closer [not only for B.P.
but for all "Drillers" and "Off Shore" developments.

I dunno. But I'm more concerned about them putting seals on the oil rigs. What purpose do they serve? Are they specially trained guard seals? Are they happy there and will they flourish? Isn't it a little too far from the arctic or antarctic for them to thrive in the Gulf? And is BP considering using walruses and penguins in the same role? Someone should really look into this.
